In his speech during the nationwide celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism in Piešťany, President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini said it. The President also devoted himself to the current situation in the world. In this context, he stressed that Slovakia must consider responsibly who its allies are and who guarantees us stability and safety.
President in his speech He expressed pride that our homeland also ranked among the winning states of World War II thanks to the heroes of the Slovak National Uprising And it can join the celebrations of victory over fascism. At the same time, he thanked the Slovak soldiers, guerrillas, a member of the first Czechoslovak Army Corps in the Soviet Union, the Slovak airman in the UK and all who have made the weapon in their hands on the defeat of the Nazis.
According to Pellegrini, it is important that we do not forget the suffering of people during World War II. “In order not to stand up to the supporters of this ideology in these times and not to allow them to spread hatred and evil. How could anyone believe that we are a true respect for the worship of the graves of the fallen against fascism and on the other hand we protect the modern supporters of evil and hate? Let’s talk about fascism and the war of the historic truth. And regardless of whether the followers of evil wore a historic uniform in the past or today they wear a branded suit. Because evil will remain a turning point in any form, ”stressed the President.
He also recalled that, in addition to death and suffering, the Second World War also offered a picture of bravery, determination, dedication and hope, when states and nations were opposed to the evil axis. “They refused only helplessly to see the crazy fulfillment of their own liquidation. The history of World War II was written on battlefields where bravery and courage decisions. They are memorials of heroic sacrifice for the highest value like freedom,” said Pellegrini.
At the same time, the President stressed that until humanity has been dealt with by the perverted need for mutual murder, we must be prepared for our freedom and security. “That’s why I ask publicly, would we be willing to take a weapon in the hands of our fathers and grandfathers today in the event of a threat? In the most difficult moments, freedom can only be defended with a weapon in hand. Therefore, when looking at the heroes of World War II, I speak very clearly, let us love our homeland, we appreciate our freedom and be ready to defend it. This is the legacy of the heroes of World War II, ”said the President.
