Prevost was born in Chicago (United States) on September 14, 1955. He has been a priest since 1982 and was Bishop Emeritus of Chiclayo, Peru. Named Archbishop by Pope Francis in 2023, he became a member of the College of Cardinals of the Catholic Church.
