Lyme borreliosis, or tick -borne encephalitis… Only when we say the names of these diseases, we will start to see if we accidentally find their carriers on the body, a disgusting and dangerous tick. In order to enjoy warm days in the garden without worries, plant them in the way of plants they hate.
A positive fact is that we will not agree with ticks in taste when it comes to the popularity of some plants. So while we usually love lavender, ticks prefer to avoid it. For us it means the only thing – we can easily get rid of ticks and we will be happy about the beautiful and fragrant blooming garden. Isn’t that excellent?

Aromatic herbs as a safe bet
If we decide to expel ticks from the garden, we should invite mainly the strong aromatic herbs that will have the greatest power in this respect. The essential oils contained in them act as a reliable tick repel. Very suitable is, for example, the aforementioned lavender, which is shown as the famous devil of the cross. So plant an ornamental flower bed reminiscent of the French Provence close to the relaxation zone and you will worry less.
We love mint but ticks have a different opinion
Like lavender, peppery mint also affects ticks. She, too, can keep them at a respectful distance from where we dropped this herb. But these are not just ticks themselves, mint flower bed, or at least pots, mosquitoes and other difficult insects will also avoid.
Not only on the bridge …
You know a song about rosemary – it does not have to grow only on the Prague Bridge, but if you plant it in the garden, it will do a good job. Without your further action, it will ensure particularly sunny and drier places before attacks by blood -borne ticks. Do you have a terrace in such a place? Then you are just the “customers” for rosemary services. For a little water and a quality substrate, it will literally reward royally.
Thyme against ticks and kitchen
A significantly aromatic herb is also a lemon thyme, which, in addition to the purpose mentioned here, we can (like other herbs) successfully use in the kitchen. It is not demanding on cultivation conditions, but loves the sun that it needs enough. It is an ideal solution for rock gardens and smaller containers in which it decorates its surroundings with beautiful small flowers.
How are you with the Africans?
While the plants have not had many opponents so far, Afrikaans have a bit more complicated among people with popularity. They are beautiful, their flowers last long, decorate every mystery and are not careful for care. They can withstand the longer absence of the grower, but on the other hand, they give something that some people call the smell, while others the same aroma smells unpleasantly. So if you belong to the first group of people, then the Africans are a good choice for you as a weapon in the fight against ticks. Otherwise, you have many other options.
Wormwood is not just a listed word
Significant scent, bitter essential oil and silver color of decorative leaves – this is the wormwood that we often remember from school as a listed word without knowing it more. But the truth is that he too is a powerful warrior with the intrusive insect is dangerous ticks. It is actually a natural repellent that we can plant around the garden to discourage ticks from the entrance to our land.
Natural repellents without a drop of chemistry
Do not be afraid to use natural opponents in the fight for your own privacy in the garden that you do not want to share with uninvited and unpleasant guests. Nature is wise and has its proven solution for most of the problems (even ours). So why should we think of more?
