Albufeira promotes in Spain, Canada and USA with a bet on strategic markets

The municipality of Albufeira is reinforcing its presence in promotional actions inside and outside the country, in a clear bet on valuing the tourist destination with strategic markets. Until next Sunday, May 11, Albufeira is present at ExpovaCaciones, in Bilbau (Spain), with its own counter, integrated in a joint tourism stand of the Algarve, which brings together ten municipalities in the region.

Participation in this International Tourism Fair is part of the strategy of promoting the Algarve region in Spain, taking advantage of the geographical proximity and the strong demand of Spanish tourists. According to the president of, José Carlos Rolo, this presence represents “a bet on the valorization of territorial proximity… which promotes the region as a tourist destination of excellence, highlighting regional gastronomy, diversified tourism and the potential of Algarve municipalities in the Spanish market”.

Albufeira is present at ExpovaCaciones with its own promotional counter, sharing the space with the municipalities of Aljezur, Faro, Lagoa, Lagos, Loulé, Olhão, Portimão, Vila do Bispo and Vila Real de Santo António. This is, according to José Carlos Rolo, “the third time that the municipality participates in ExpovaCaciones, taking advantage of the geographical proximity and aerial connections with Bilbau and other Spanish cities to show our tourist offer, which goes through the quality of our accommodation and restoration units, tourist animation, natural and landscape heritage, culture, traditions, gastronomy and the sympathy of our wines People, including industry professionals, considered a reference to hospitality. ”

The following week, Albufeira heads to the American continent, in partnership with APAL – Albufeira Promotion Agency, to hold two strategic roadshows in Toronto (May 13) and New York (May 15). The purpose of these actions is to reinforce Albufeira’s visibility as a tourist destination of excellence with the US market.

According to President José Carlos Rolo, these roadshows “taking into account the strategic interest in these markets that are already considered of the most important at national level, presenting with growth potential inside and outside the bathing season”.

The initiative is attended by several APAL members and intends to take advantage of the reinforcement of airlines between the US and the Algarve, especially the new direct route of United Airlines between Newark and Faro, scheduled to start May 17, with four weekly flights.

As José Carlos Rolo underlines, “The presence of Albufeira in these markets aims to enhance the impact of this new air connection, promoting Albufeira as a competitive and attractive destination for the US market.”
