The Bulgarian President Rumen Radev criticized the EU support for Ukraine, described it as unsuccessful and called for a peaceful solution to the conflict.

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev on Friday again criticized the support of the European Union for Ukraine, and Kiev’s efforts to win the war with Russia are sentenced to failure. TASR writes about this based on the Politico portal report.

“Europe does not have its own vision to end the war and set peace, but it continues to invest in a matter that, in my opinion, is sentenced to failure,” Radev wrote on the social network. According to him, sending other weapons to Ukraine will not close Kiev to victory.

Criticism of military aid

“The exact opposite happens every day – even more victims, even more destruction, even more lost land,” he added. “Is Europe afraid of the return of peace? Because the return of peace also means the return of public attention to the crises that smell in our countries and companies.”

Radev, a former aviation commander and president since 2016, is one of the small groups of European leaders who, after the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, has taken a more conciliatory attitude towards Moscow. He has been opposed to the provision of military aid to Ukraine for a long time.

Impact on domestic policy

Although the post of Bulgarian president is predominantly representative, Radev’s position in domestic policy, according to the portal, has gained strength as a result of a persistent heel in parliament, which has brought the country to the seven parliamentary elections over the past four years.

In the past, Radev has described the victory of Ukraine over Russia as “impossible” and accused European leaders of responsibility for “hundreds of thousands of victims” due to the support of the Ukrainian counter -offensive. His statements were criticized by the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Greenable.
