How to prevent mold in the bathroom
The basic rule for the prevention of mold is: keep moisture under control. In the bathroom it means mainly to ventilate, ideally using a window or fan that remains released for some time after the shower. When showering, it also pays to close the door so that the moisture does not spread to other rooms, but after the bathroom is finished open as quickly as possible and allow to dry thoroughly. But one simple habit also helps. After each shower, wipe the water from the walls of the shower or a bathtub with a spatula so that the moisture does not remain where the mold is most successful.
In addition to moisture, it is good to focus on other details. For example, towards towels or clothing never leave the bathroom lying wet. Rather, hang them in a dry, well -ventilated place where they will dry quickly. It is also necessary to regularly clean the corners of the shower, joints and places behind the furniture, where dust and moisture are held. Mold needs not only water, but also food, which can be just seated dust, soap remnants or cosmetic products.
Beware of the bathroom equipment. Old silicone sealants or cracked joints between the tiles can retain water and become an ideal environment for mold formation. Therefore, check the seals regularly and replace them. If there are signs of mold somewhere, do not expect! Immediately remove them and most importantly find out where the moisture comes. Otherwise, the problem will still return.
How to get rid of mold
If the mold has already appeared in the bathroom, it is important to intervene as soon as possible. For smaller deposits you can do it with household remedies. A mixture of water and white vinegar in a ratio of 1: 1 is proven. The vinegar has strong antifungal effects and can cope with the IS on the ceiling or in the corners of the shower enclosure. However, after the application of the vinegar, dark spots can remain to remove the paste from baking soda and a little water. Leave it for a few minutes, gently scrub and rinse. For larger or more resistant areas, it is advisable to reach special fungal agents that can be commonly purchased in drugstores, commonly referred to as “fungicidal”. But always follow the instructions and use protective equipment, especially gloves and make sure the space is well ventilated during the application.
It is not about miraculous cleaning agents, but permanent care for the bathroom. Even if you can remove the bearings, if you do not solve the cause, the problem will return. Regular ventilation, thorough drying and maintaining cleanliness are the best prevention. When you learn a few small habits, you will save not only worries but also the costs of repair and unnecessary health complications. Above all, you will have a clean and healthy environment at home, where you will breathe much better.
