Kallas and several foreign ministers celebrate Europe in Ukraine: they support a court that judges the occupation

The high representative for the foreign policy of the European Union, Kaja Kallas, celebrates this Friday the Day of Europe with the Foreign Ministers of several member countries, including that of Spain, José Manuel Albares, in the city of Leopolis of the West of Ukraine, where they have honored Ukrainian fallen in the war with a floral offering.

“Today, we celebrated Europe with Ukraine and its people. Because in a family, both the joys and difficulties are shared,” Kallas wrote after his first act in Lepolis. “Together with the Foreign Ministers, we are united with Ukraine for a fair peace. For the future in which we believe,” he said.

The visit of Kallas and the European Foreign Ministers to Leopolis will serve to show their support for the establishment of a special court that judges the Russian military aggression against Ukraine, he said before undertaking the trip the high representative itself.

The acts that will be held in Luapolis coincide with the celebration in Moscow of the traditional parade on the occasion of Victory Day, in which the Russians celebrate the victory of the Red Army over Nazi Germany in World War II.

The European leaders who have traveled this Friday to Ukraine have among their objectives to show their support for the country invaded by Russia in a day that will be marked by the participation of the Chinese leader, Xi Jinping, and other heads of state and government related to the Kremlin in the Moscow parade.

Do justice

In addition, up to thirty countries, including those of the EU, will give this Friday in Luapolis (Ukraine) “the final political support” to the establishment of a special court that judges the crime of aggression of Russia against Ukraine, said Kallas yesterday.

“Tomorrow (for today) we will give the final political support to establish a court of the crime of aggression. There will be no impunity. There will be accountability for the crimes committed,” Kallas said at a press conference in Warsaw.

The establishment of this Court was negotiated by about thirty countries in the Council of Europe, of which the United States was unmarked at the last moment, which must judge the crime of aggression of Russia against Ukraine, other than war crimes in Ukrainian territory that the International Criminal Court is investigating.

Polish Foreign Minister, Radosław Sikorski, criticized the decision of US President Donald Trump, not to support the creation of this court, which did begin to negotiate the previous administration of former president Joe Biden. “The suspension of the United States participation in the establishment of the Court is another more than a dozen important concessions that the new US administration has made (the Russian president) Vladimir Putin,” said Sikorski.
