Tirana-The Danish ex-world champion Mads Pedersen won the opening stage of the Giro d’Italia in Albania on Friday. Patrick Konrad’s team-mate in the Lidl Trek racing stable prevailed after 160 km from Durrës to Tirana in the sprint of the decimated field. The 29-year-old celebrated his second giro day after 2023 in front of Wout van Aert and Orluis Aular and also took over the pink jersey of the overall leader. On Saturday there is a single time trial in Tirana (14 km).
