Health Minister Alexandre Padilha and oncologist, Drauzio Varella, came together to launch on Thursday (8) in Rio de Janeiro an unprecedented initiative: the offer of free medical examinations for federal public servants across the country.
“We will not advance in health without taking care of those who work in the Unified Health System (SUS). Increasingly we deal with problems that have no cure, so, or prevents or cares. The Ministry of Health wants to take care of those who take care of us,” said the minister.
The operator “Geap Health” is a partner of the initiative that aims to ensure access at no cost to preventive examinations for all the Ministry of Health’s servers, including candidates, commissioners, ceded and amnesty, even those who are not beneficiaries of GEAP.
Examinations such as full blood count, mammography, Pap smear, PSA, blood glucose, creatinine, as well as specialized clinical consultations will be available on the operator’s accredited network in all 27 federation units.
Doctor Dráuzio Varella pointed out that prevention is critical to healthy aging.
“We are aging badly. At 60, 20% of Brazilians have diabetes and 50% of men and women are hypertensive. Prevention is fundamental and it is necessary to take advantage of this opportunity,” said Dráuzio.
The initiative of the Ministry of Health marks a historical advance in the occupational health policy of the federal government. Nearly 50,000 people will be contemplated across the country.
