The new Minister of Communications of the Government (PT), Frederico Siqueira Filho, took office on Wednesday (7) in ceremony with the presence of the former chief of the portfolio ,.
He said he will maintain, at first, the ministry team and that the president asked to accelerate deliveries of public inclusion public policies.
“Our idea is precisely to fulfill our technical role, make the deliveries that the Lula government demanded us to make the possible deliveries that the Ministry of Communications can serve the Brazilian population,” said Siqueira Filho after the ceremony.
He was an indication of the Senate President, David Alcolumbre (-AP), to replace Juscelino, after being denounced by the PGR (Attorney General of the Republic) on charges.
According to him, the party president, Antonio Rueda, did not attend for surgery.
Siqueira Filho was, until he reached the position, the president of Telebras, state -owned to the Ministry, responsible for telecommunications in the country. He is an ally of the Senate Party leader, Efraim Filho (PB).
Also participating in the ceremony were Gleisi Hoffmann (Institutional Relations) and Márcia Lopes (women) and Ministers Paulo Teixeira (Agrarian Development), Renan Filho (Transportes), José Múcio (Defense) and Celso Sabino (Tourism), as well as the interim fishing, Oedipus Araújo.
Siqueira Filho reported that the name nominated for assuming Telebras in his place is André Leandro Magalhães, current technical-operational director of the state.
The new minister also said that he intends to continue the state’s removal from the Union’s general budget in the coming months, after the regulation of a decree to leave. It will be a way to get the company off the dependence of the Union, he said.
Frederico de Siqueira Filho, 48, has a degree in Civil Engineering and was Director of Institutional Relations at Oi. Before, he assumed other positions of leadership in the operational, institutional and commercial sectors over 21 years he worked at the company.
Juscelino Filho returned to the mandate of federal deputy for Maranhão. In his farewell speech, he thanked Lula for his confidence and praised the government.
“These days of effort, road, meetings, difficult decisions, but also of many achievements. I am very proud of everything we delivered during this period, especially for those who need it most,” he said.
The exchange in the ministry experienced moments of uncertainty and generated discomfort in the government, as União Brasil had, at first, the federal deputy, Pedro Lucas (MA), who refused the position 12 days after meeting with Lula and was announced by the Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann.
Unlike other possessions, Siqueira Filho was made at the headquarters of the Ministry of Communications, not at the Planalto Palace. The acting president, Geraldo Alckmin, did not attend. Lula is on an official trip to Russia and China.
