It accused him, on Friday (9), to bring the two nuclear powers closer to a “great conflict”, after three days of attacks on both sides with missiles, artillery and drones that left more than 50 dead. The clashes began after India attributed to Pakistan a fire attack in which 26 tourists died on April 22 in an area of Caxemira under Indian administration, an accusation that Islamabad denies. India said on Friday that it repelled a series of drones and artillery shots launched at night by Pakistan, which called “proper answer.”

A is a region of Muslim majority divided between the two countries since the independence of the United Kingdom in 1947. It is also the scene of an insurgent movement that seeks independence or annexation to Pakistan. India attributes April’s deadly attack to the Jihadist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (Let), an organization that considers it “terrorist”, based in Pakistan. Islamabad denies involvement and requested an independent investigation.

Indian authorities threatened for several days that would respond to military attack and, on Wednesday (7), began the bombing. India and Pakistan have crashed three wars on a large scale since British sharing and independence, two of them for disputes on the sovereignty of Caxemira, a territory that the two sides claim and that is divided. India accused on Thursday the Pakistani forces of attacking three military bases, two in Caxemira and one in the Indian state of Punjab. Pakistan denies the release of drones. An Indian defense source has told AFP in the last hours of Friday that drones were sighted in the Jammu and Samba regions, in Caxemira administered by India, and neighboring Punjab.

“War hysteria”

According to the spokesman for the Pakistan Foreign Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “patriotism and war hysteria” should be a source of serious concern for the world. “It is very unhappy that the fearful conduct of India approached the two states with nuclear weapons of a great conflict,” said Shafqat Ali Khan. Pakistan military spokesman Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said his country “will not reduce climbing” with India.

Pakistan authorities announced on Friday that five civilians died in an Indian bombing at night in the cashmir area run by Islamabad. “In response, the Pakistani army made a strong counterattack against three Indian posts,” Adeel Khan, a police officer, told AFP in the Indian district of Kotli, where four deaths occurred.

Pakistani military sources have stated that their forces overthrew 77 Indian drones in the last two days. In Caxemira administered by India, a police source said a woman died and two men were injured due to an intense night bombing in URI, almost 100 kilometers from the state capital, Srinagar.

Moderation appeals

The international community and several powers tried to mediate the situation and asked for moderation to the parties. United States Diplomacy Chief Marco Rubio asked on Thursday a bass and the beginning of a dialogue. He also appealed for Islamabad to end any support for “terrorist groups.”

American Vice President Jd Vance reiterated the appeal and said, “Let’s not get involved in a war that, in essence, is not our problem.” Several countries offered to mediate the conflict. Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araye, met Thursday in New Delhi with his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, days after visiting Pakistan.

The schools remained closed on Friday on both sides of the border. India determined the closure of 24 airports, but the press reported that the suspension of air traffic could be suspended on Saturday. In a moment of hostilities, India ordered the social network X to block more than 8,000 accounts, the platform, which has protested, but said it will comply with the order, which has classified as a “censorship” policy.
