Presidents of Russia and China criticize “Western Hegemony” during a meeting in Moscow

Presidents Vladimir Putin from Russia and Xi Jinping from China reaffirmed their alliance against what they call West “hegemonic ” during a meeting held at Kremlin on Thursday (8.MAI.2025). On the same day, Ukraine accused Moscow of violating the 3 -day truce unilaterally announced by the Russian leader.

The meeting between the 2 heads of state happens on the eve of the military parade in which he will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany. The ceremony, scheduled for this Friday (10.MAI.2025), will be attended by more than 20 foreign leaders and the participation of Chinese soldiers and 12 other countries.

Putin classified discussions with XI as “Very productive” and referred to the Chinese leader as “Your dear friend.” The presidents addressed topics related to policy, security and economy, according to information released by Kremlin, not to mention the war in Ukraine in early conversations.

Xi Jinping, who arrived in Russia for a 3 -day visit, described the conversations with Putin as “Deep, cordial and fruitful”. The Chinese president stated that the relations between Beijing and Moscow inject “Positive Energy” in a worldwide crisis scenario, criticizing what it considers a “tendency” from the West to “Unilateralism” e to “Hegemonic Intimidation”.

During the meeting at the headquarters of the Russian government, Putin expressed his intention to “Deepen” Cooperation with China has ensured that both countries will maintain close coordination in their international positions.
