The mayor of Maricá, Washington Quaquá, informed allies that he will give up the candidacy for the presidency of João Paulo Rodrigues, national coordinator of the MST (Landless Rural Workers Movement).
This is another attempt to stop the candidacy of former mayor of Araraquara and favorite of the president, Edinho Silva. Last year, still in the debate on any plates to the command of the acronym, there was a movement for the name of João Paulo Rodrigues, but the effort did not prosper.
Quaquá will announce his decision at the meeting of the CNB petista current (building a new Brazil) in Brasilia. He will invite Rodrigues on Friday (9), during the National Agrarian Reform Fair in São Paulo. If the landless leader does not accept, he will keep his candidacy.
Meanwhile, Lula’s allies articulate to enable Edinho’s candidacy, seeking current support beyond the CNB. Mapping of its supporters point to Edinho’s leadership in the states. But a new candidacy can lead to the presentation of two plates of the same trend in the party election.
