US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth canceled a planned visit to Israel, wrote the Israeli daily The Jerusalem Post (JP) on Friday, referring to an unnamed source. Hegseth was to travel to Israel next week before the US President Donald Trump President in the region, TASR reports.

Axios reported on Saturday that Hegseth was supposed to meet on 12 May with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his first visit to Israel with his counterparts Jisrael Kaco.

Hegseth is accompanied by Trump

Despite the cancellation of the visit of Israel, Hegseth will be accompanied by the Israeli daily Trump on the way to Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. They should visit the US President from 13 to 16 May. With the exception of a brief visit to Rome during the funeral of Pope Francis, it will be the first foreign trip of Trump, since January 20, for the second time, took over the post of President of the US.
