Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was elected Pope on the Thursday on the 2nd day of Conclave and holds Holy Mass in the Sistine Chapel, where he took place

Pope Leo 14, elected Pontiff on Thursday (8.MAI.2025), celebrates this Friday (9.MAI) his 1st Mass in office. Holy Mass with the cardinals is held in the Sistine Chapel, in the Vatican, the same place where the conclave that elected it occurred.

The new Pope, Robert Francis Prevost, is the 1st Pontiff born in the United States and the 2nd of the American continent. It is naturalized Peruvian and worked in the country for two decades. During the speech to the faithful, after his first appearance on the Basilica of St. Peter’s Basilica, he spoke in Italian and briefly made a greeting in Spanish to the diocese of Chiclayo, Peru.
