After 14 years, a former national coach, a hockey legend of Bratislava’s Slav and a member of the Hall of Fame of Slovak Hockey – Zdeno Cíger closed his hockey academy. His dream was to raise a new generation of hockey talents and bring children from the disadvantaged social environment to this sport, but this is over. He openly spoke about his decision in the show.
“Let me tell the truth that it is good now. I also closed the Academy because I saw that it was not meaningful, ” stated. He does not hide that his academy fought with financial obstacles and lack of opportunities for young players. According to Cíger, there are more and more boys who do not have financially hockey. And those who have it go abroad.
“One tries to pass something and return hockey and then finds that it all is meaningless. Nobody weighs it and you just kill time at the expense of health and family, ” He didn’t put a napkin in front of his mouth. “You don’t even have the conditions for it, of course, even the money is no longer for it. It didn’t make sense to me anymore. One will lose energy, then it is difficult to do,” added the former coach of the Slovak hockey team.
