We are just over a month from summer and if you are already preparing your beaches script for this bathing season, know that there is one in the south of the country whose water is ‘always’ to 25 degrees. In addition to the waters at high temperatures, the beach is distinguished by the free parking park in its vicinity. The river beach of Mourão, located in Albu do Alqueva, is now considered the largest certified beach in the lake, with a sand that extends for about 320 meters. Inaugurated in July 2017, this infrastructure reinforced the tourist offer of the municipality of Mourão, in the Évora district.

Located approximately one kilometer from the village of Mourão, the beach is part of the local lunch park, which provides tables, wooden benches and barbecues. The beach boasts the blue flag, symbol of environmental quality, safety and well-being. Of the 320 meters of sand, 100 meters are watched, ensuring the protection of bathers during the bathing season. According to the municipality, this distinction reinforces the commitment to the sustainability of space.
Free Shadow Spaces
On the adjacent lawn, visitors find about 45 free -use sunshine hats. To ensure a place in the shadow should reach the beach early, although it is always possible to wear their own hats in the vast area of sand available.
For the younger ones there is a floating pool with a solarium zone. This structure is equipped with a security network and balustrade all over the lap to ensure that children do not inadvertently approach deeper waters.
Fun for all ages
Adults, on the other hand, have a floating platform, installed at a safe distance from the margin. This includes a tower of jumps, a staircase for bathers and a slide, allowing leisure moments in the water.

Picnic Infrastructures
Next to the sand, the lunch park is one of the most sought after amenities by visitors. In addition to the tables and barbecues, there is a kiosk that serves drinks and slight meals, offering an alternative to those who do not bring home food.
The beach parking includes about 70 seats, some reserved for people with conditioned mobility. Access to the beach is facilitated by wooden walkways, which ensure greater convenience and inclusion.
Water Activities
Although recent, the river beach of Mourão already offers some activities, such as canoeing. This sports practice, accessible to all, allows us to explore the vast Alqueva reservoir in a quiet or more dynamic way, depending on preference.
On festive dates, such as Children’s Day, the City Council promotes special events on the beach, including inflatables and other animations, which attract families from the region and other areas of the country.
Historical heritage in the region
