First Lady Janja Lula da Silva will premiere the Brazilian movie “I’m still here” in theaters of China. The feature film, which will be aired in Beijing, on Monday (12.MAI.2025), at 5:30 pm (6:30 am on Tuesday in Brasilia).
At the same time, the President (PT) will be at the end of the Brazil-China Business Forum. The next day, he will have a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
China authorizes the screening of 34 foreign films per year, which makes the release process particularly rigorous.
The permission for the Brazilian film was articulated by (Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency) and the Brazilian Embassy in Beijing. The initiative seeks to expand trade relations between the 2 countries beyond agribusiness.
“I’m still here”
The work is starring actress Fernanda Torres, who plays Eunice Paiva (1929-2018), wife of former federal deputy Rubens Paiva (1929-1971), who was kidnapped and killed during the Brazilian military dictatorship (1964-1985).
The film is based on that of writer Marcelo Rubens Paiva, son of the couple. It is directed by Walter Salles.
On February 24, Lula and Janja Ministers, congressmen and the grandchildren of Rubens Paiva and Eunice for a session at the Dawn Palace in Brasilia.
The film had revenues of R $ 104.6 million in Brazil by the end of February 2025. It is the 3rd largest national film box office registered by (National Film Agency) since 2018.
The film was seen by over 5.1 million viewers in the country. Adding performance abroad, it earned US $ 27.4 million (R $ 159 million).
