ANAC authorizes exceptional readjustment to compensate for losses caused by passenger limit; The measure can be reviewed in case of granting the private initiative
The was authorized to raise up to 36% the tariffs charged in downtown Rio. The approval was given by (National Civil Aviation Agency) as an exceptional measure to mitigate revenue losses caused by limitation on passenger flow, in force since 2023, by decision of the president’s government (PT).
With the new calculation, the so-called Revenue-Tet, a maximum average value that the operator can raise as a passenger, will rise from $ 56.48 to $ 77.20. The increase of R $ 20.68 includes a temporary portion authorized by the regulatory agency after the favorable opinion of the, which recognized the financial impacts of the public policy that limited the terminal to 6.5 million passengers per year.
The state -owned company argued that because of the restriction, there was a 49% drop in landings and shipping and 97% in connection rates in 2024 compared to the previous year.
According to the agency, the readjustment may be reviewed if there is a change in flight restriction policy or if the terminal enter into a possible process of granting the private initiative.
Impact for passengers
The agency said the increase in revenue-revenue does not automatically lead to immediate transfer to passengers and airlines, as the prices actually practiced still depend on public consultation and pricing rules provided for in the regulation.

The decision took into account the Infraero plan of about R $ 400 million in the modernization of the airport by 2026. The restriction of flights, implemented in recent years, sought to contain overload at the terminal, one of the busiest in the country.
In a statement, Infraero stated that the adjustment aims to ensure the financial viability of the investments provided for in infrastructure, safety and operation.
The state -owned company also reported that the tariff value of Santos Dumont now follows the same level practiced at Congonhas Airport, in São Paulo, which underwent readjustment after granting the private initiative.
