Washington – According to insiders, the USA is examining a plan to bring Greenland into its sphere of influence through an association agreement. For this purpose, the government of US President Donald Trump could propose the island to enter into a so-called Compact of Free Association (Cofa), as the Reuters news agency received from two US government officials and a person familiar with the considerations.
