The Brazilian actor Matheus Nachtergaele57, talked about his Relationship with alcohol and other drugscommenting that it has gone through moments of abusive use and today can control for contact in social contexts.
“At this point I don’t drink anymore, which is a lawful drug, and it was mine for many years. I would even like to have had other substances as a source of inspiration or liberation, but it was what I found the fun that later became horror,” he said.
Nachtergaele said he had close contact with the reality of violence that drugs cause when he played Sandro Carrot in the movie “City of God” in 2002, and that this understanding of society led him to reduce consumption.
“The awareness of what involves this world removes you some of the drugs. When you understand the violence that is still involved in this whole thing you move away, you retract,” he said in an interview with the magazine.
According to him, people who use substances prohibited by law will always be involved in a degree of violence, sponsoring the reality he knew in the setting of the film nominated four times to the Oscars.
“All of them [as drogas] They are a little [fortes] For me, that’s why I had to stop alcohol. I abused, and I’m already a little drunk, I already have one dose of whiskey extra me. Always the impressions of the world for me are strong, ”he said.
The actor (he said he understood that one of the causes of his lack of control over substance may have been his rapid rise in the world of fame.

Nachtergaele said the only drug that continues to consume is often tobacco, but he wants to get rid of addiction because his body – now 57 – is already feeling the effects of continuous use.
“I have no prejudice with drugs, I am only aware of how bad some can do when used in excess or even when used without excess. I am including the psychotropics of medicine, antidepressants, anxiolytics and weight loss,” he reflected.
Interpreting, one of the neighborhood members, in the remake of “”, Nachtergaele commented on having been almost ten years off the soap operas – going back to do Norberto, in “Renascer” in 2024.
