Corporation identified “more sophisticated” scheme involving lobbyists, judges and employees of 4 cabinets

The PF (Federal Police) requested Minister Cristiano Zanin of the Supreme Court (STF), the extension for another 60 days of corruption investigations in the STJ (Superior Court of Justice). The request was made this week in Brasilia. The corporation has identified that the scheme of sale of court decisions is “Considerably more sophisticated and complex” than the initial evaluation.

The investigation investigates a network involving lobbyists, judges of Mato Grosso and former employees of 4 STJ offices. What was initially considered by PF as “Isolated acts of sharing of decisions” It is now treated as an elaborate system that includes lawyers, financial operators, agribusiness entrepreneurs and agents of the judiciary.

“Investigative work of financial analysis, still ongoing, revealed evidence of facts with the potential to change the depth of criminal hypotheses and, consequently, with probability of chancelling the jurisdiction of the Federal Supreme Court for the supervision of the police inquiry.”said the PF in a document sent to the Supreme Court.

By March 2025, Zanin had already authorized the continuity of the findings for another 45 days.

The lawsuit is under the Supreme Court with the rapporteur of Minister Cristiano Zanin, due to mentions to at least one STJ minister, Paulo Moura Ribeiro. Investigations also involve the offices of ministers Og Fernandes, Isabel Gallotti and Nancy Andrighi.

Second The globelobbyist Anderson de Oliveira Gonçalves, accused of negotiating decisions of the Supreme Court and other courts, is still detained at the Federal Penitentiary of Brasilia. Already his wife, lawyer Mirian Ribeiro Rodrigues, fulfills house arrest monitored by electronic anklet.

The Virtual Plenary of the Supreme Court should finish on Monday (12.MAI.2025) the judgment of an appeal of the defense of Anderson, who seeks his transfer of the Federal Penitentiary to house arrest. To date, 3 of the 5 ministers of the 1st class of the Supreme Court have voted against the appeal: Zanin, Alexandre de Moraes and Flávio Dino.
