Agreement expands sponsorship started in 2022; Circuit calendar that bears the name of the financial institution has 5 steps this year
The World Surf League (WSL), which controls surfing competitions around the world, and BB (Banco do Brasil) renewed its partnership for another 3 seasons, extending the deal by 2027.
Renewal includes Challenger Series Naming Rights – Division of Access to Championship Tour – the expansion of the Banco do Brasil Circuit of Surfing and participation in the Championship Tour itself, which brings together the best surfers in the world.
With the new agreement, the Brazilian stage of Challenger Series will be renamed Banco do Brasil Saquarema Pro. BB also maintains the sponsorship of Vivo Rio Pro, the Championship Tour stage, and continues to directly support the careers of Brazilian surfers such as Italo Ferreira, Tatiana Weston-Webb, Tainá Hinckel and Silvana Lima.
The Banco do Brasil Circuit of Surfing, which began in 2022, is the central element of the partnership. Since its inception, the circuit has performed 14 steps in 9 cities. Twenty different surfers won at least one title in the competitions held. The 19-year-old Laura Raupp stands out as the biggest winner, with 4 titles in her career.
For 2025, the calendar has 5 steps. The first has already occurred in São Sebastião (SP), considered the largest surf event in the history of the coast of São Paulo. Another 3 events are confirmed: Natal (RN) May 21 to 25; a stage in August (from 21 to 24) with a place not yet defined; and Imbituba (SC) from 17 to 21 September.
Ivan Martinho, president of WSL in Latin America, highlighted the importance of the event: “The Banco do Brasil Circuit de Surf is the largest surf championship today in Brazil and Latin America, giving surfers the opportunity to compete in various localities on the Brazilian coast also generating entertainment to the public and bringing an important legacy to the places where it passes with important environmental and social actions. It is a competition that supports the sport, but brings a series of benefits and values that go beyond.”
