Consultations by flu syndromes exceed 8,000 in Acre and exceed 2024

Acre registered an increase in the number of flu’s care at the beginning of 2025. According to the Epidemiological Bulletin released by the Health Secretariat (Sesacre), based on epidemiological weeks from 1 to 18, 8,515 consultations were accounted for in the three sentinel units of the state.

This number is higher than that registered in the same period in 2024, when 8,353 consultations by flu syndromes were held, the Health Bulletin points out.

The data also show a change in the profile of people most affected by acute respiratory diseases. While in 2024 young adults between 20 and 29 years concentrated most cases, by 2025 the most affected age group became 20 to 39 years.

The exams performed in 2025 point out that the most common viruses in circulation in the state are SARS-COV-2, Rinovirus, Respiratory Sincient Virus (VSR), Influenza A (not subtipped) and Influenza B.

Regarding notifications of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SRAG), the 2025 numbers remain within the expected standard. 872 cases were reported in the first 18 weeks of the year, number close to that recorded in 2024 (920 cases) and higher than 2023 (669 cases).

Children’s situation

The Acrean capital, Rio Branco, is experiencing an increase in cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SRAG) in children, causing the intensive care unit beds (ICU) and pediatric clinical beds of the Children’s Hospital to be bordering on maximum capacity.

According to a monitoring panel of the State Department of Health (Sesacre) on Wednesday (7), of the 20 ICU beds, only three are free. Regarding the ward beds, of the 50, only one is free in the unit.

Of the cases, the vast majority are related to the respiratory sintendic virus, which is responsible for increasing bronchiolitis records, a disease that mainly affects babies up to two years of age.

Given the situation, Sesacre opened 20 new beds of semi-intensive ICU and another 10 ward at the Acre National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics (Int-AC).
