Daniela Arcanjo -On the edge of the war just a few hours ago, Pakistan and India announced a ceasefire on Saturday (10), after four days of fighting leave more than 50 deaths on both sides, according to information from the two historical opponents.

Confirmation came after US President Donald Trump to run to announce the news on his platform, the Social Truth.

According to him, the agreement was reached after “a long night of US -mediated negotiations.” “Congratulations to both countries for using common sense,” he wrote.

In an interview with local Geo News broadcaster, however, Pakistan Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq said dozens of countries were involved in diplomatic effort, placing the truce in the Saudi and Turkey Arabia account, and the US.

India Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Vikram Misri, in turn, said the agreement was negotiated between the head of Pakistan military operations and his Indian correspondent during a telephone conversation. According to him, both will meet again on Monday (12).

Just a few hours earlier, a truce in the worst clashes between the two countries in over 20 years seemed distant.

The conflict approached an open war on Saturday, when countries launched attacks on each other’s military facilities.

The tension increased when the Pakistani army announced that the body responsible for supervising nuclear weapons would meet.

Subsequently, the Defense Minister said this meeting was not scheduled, but the impasse continued with both countries conditioning the interruption of attacks on the same posture of the opponent.

“We respond because our patience has reached the limit. If they stop here, we will also consider it to stop,” Pakistani Ishaq said early on Saturday in an interview with Geo News.

Indian commander Vyomika Singh said at a news conference that her country could also decrease the tension, as long as “that Pakistan repay”.

According to her, “several high -speed missile attacks were recorded against air bases in the previous hours, with limited damage.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani Army spokesman, Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, also denounced missile attacks on air bases, although all had been intercepted, he said. “Now just wait for our answer,” he continued.

Before dawn, hostilities reached the gates of the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, a city about ten kilometers away that houses the Army and intelligence service headquarters. Authorities from the Pakistan cashmire region reported that 11 civilians died at night in Indian bombings.

In Jammu, the second largest city in India -controlled Caxemira, residents ran to embark on a special evacuation train.

“We hear explosions all night,” Karan Varma, a 41 -year -old worker, told AFP news agency. “There is no choice but to leave.”

The issue has mobilized the international community, which has requested moderation from both parties in recent days. The G7, for example, a diplomatic group formed by US, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Japan, issued a note on sixth asking for dialogue and “maximum containment” of any military climbing.

Already on Saturday, before Trump’s announcement, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called Pakistan army chief, General Asim Munir, and India Chancellor, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, installing both of direct communication to avoid calculation errors. ”

Caxemira is a region of a Muslim majority where rivers are born essential to India and Pakistan, which dispute the site since they gained the independence of the United Kingdom in 1947.

Since 1989, the region has been the scene of an insurgency of those seeking independence or annexation to Pakistan and, according to New Delie, have the support of the neighboring country.

The current crisis began on April 22, after an terrorist attack committed by an armed group that asks for the separation of Indian caixemira to kill 26 people – mostly Hindu tourists.

India blamed the Jihadist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (Let), based in Pakistan, and accused Islamabad of involvement in the attack, which the Pakistani government denies. The organization, designated as a terrorist by the UN, is suspected of attacks in Mumbai that left 166 dead in 2008.

The day after the attack, India suspended the agreement that regulated the shared use of rivers between the two nations since 1960.

The Rio Waters Treaty survived two wars between the two countries. Now, in addition to breaking the deal for the first time, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi closed the only land passage among countries.

The tension between the two countries had been increasing since then, until last Wednesday (7), India bombed what it classifies “terrorist infrastructures” in Pakistan.

The ceasefire does not completely remove the possibility of conflict. India’s chancellor, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, chose to make a caveat by confirming the truce on the social network X.

According to him, his country “has consistently kept a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations” and “will continue to do so.” In addition, the water treaty remains suspended, four Indian government officials told Reuters.
