The Minister of the Attorney General of the Union (AGU), Jorge Messias, said on Saturday (10), on social network X (former Twitter), that the government of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) was responsible for the “dismantling of the social protection network”, in reference to the frauds investigated at the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) by the Federal Police and the Union Comptroller (CGU).
“The dismantling of the INSS and Dataprev was neither chance nor carelessness: it was a conscious project that directly reached the poorest and vulnerable: money taken from the elderly! Damaged benefits, precarious service, scrapped structures,” wrote Messiah.
For the minister, structural problems compromised the functioning of the social security system. He also stated that the current government “is rebuilding the INSS”, with actions to combat fraud and investments in technology, personnel and care.
This week, AGU filed a lawsuit asking for the blockade of 12 associations and unions, as well as 14 companies and individuals, suspected of involvement in an improper discount scheme applied to pensions. According to AGU, these entities would have acted as intermediaries of illegal payments to public servants linked to the INSS and third parties, in an estimated total of R $ 23.8 million.

As happens in all complaints,” he said. “We decided to dismantle a gang that was created in 2019. And you know who ruled Brazil in 2019.”
The president also stated that there are serious entities working at the INSS, but others were created exclusively to commit crimes. “Both CGU and the Federal Police went deep to reach the heart of the gang,” he added.
