Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed direct negotiations with Ukraine on Saturday to Sunday night.

“We propose that the Kiev authorities renew the negotiations that interrupt at the end of 2022. Restore direct negotiations and, I emphasize, without any preliminary conditions. We propose their immediately start next Thursday 15 May in Istanbul.

He also announced that he was planning to contact Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the near future to discuss with him the possible organization of direct Russian-Ukrainian negotiations.

The Ukrainians and the Russians directly negotiated in March and April in 2022, ie at the beginning of the Russian invasion. After negotiations in Belarus, the negotiations moved to Turkey, but eventually failed.

Putin also said that Russia is ready for “serious negotiations with Ukraine”.

“Their aim is to eliminate the underlying causes of the conflict, to establish a long -term and permanent peace from historically. We do not exclude that during these negotiations it will be possible to agree on some new ceasefires, a new stop of fire,” he said.

The Russians, as the first causes of the war, understand mainly Ukrainian efforts for Euro -Atlantic integration.

Putin’s statement comes the day after the end of the anniversary of the end of World War II in Moscow, May 9, and at the same time after the leaders of Ukraine, France, Germany, Great Britain and Poland agreed on Saturday in Kiev, an unconditional 30-day arm. They called on the Russian side to agree with the cease.

At the same time, European leaders threatened with new sanctions on the energy and banking sector.

During the meeting, they also had a joint telephone interview with US President Donald Trump.

We will update the message.
