The (São Paulo State Transport Agency) approved, at the end of March, a readjustment of 12.6% of the remuneration tariff passed on by the São Paulo government to the Next Mobility concessionaire, which operates in the capital’s bus and trolleybus corridor to the ABC metropolitan region.
The company, responsible for about 90 lines in the metropolitan region, requested the readjustment because of the reduction of passenger traffic in the 12 months after the end of the pandemic.
The agency’s board of directors acknowledged that the fact that the demands of demand was not reached within 12 months of the pandemic was an imbalance event for the concessionaire’s accounts. As a result, it applied with immediate effect to increase the remuneration tariff for two years to mitigate the impacts of this traffic reduction.
The government of São Paulo passed in 2024 a law that the action of transportation agencies, Artesp, and the services, ARSESP. With, Artesp assumed the attributions on intercity public transport in the metropolitan region.
Asked how she will be disbursed at the end of the two years, Artesp reported that the calculation of the remuneration tariff will be “performed monthly based on demand (real data)”.
“The election was presented in August 2024 and the approval by the Director of Artesp was in March this year, involving the entire services provided by the company.”
