The death of Brazilian Geicimara de Almeida Gomes, 21, occurred in Medellin, Colombia, was officially confirmed as femicide. The young woman fell from the 16th floor of a high standard condominium at dawn on March 10, and the case, initially treated as suicide, began to be investigated as murder after indications of aggression and escape from her partner appeared.
According to the newspaper Timethe final report of the Colombian Forensic Science System (SISC) points out that the young woman was murdered. The country’s prosecution now prepares an arrest request against the main suspect: the victim’s boyfriend.
On the night of death, neighbors reported to the police had heard a fight in the apartment where Geicimara lived with their boyfriend. Shortly after the discussion, a crash aroused the residents, who, when they checked, saw the body of the young woman lying in the central square of Parque Central Del Río Condominium – an estimated height of 40 meters.

Inside the apartment, police found documents from Geicimara and two Brazilian men. One of them would be the boyfriend, who, according to witnesses, fled the scene shortly after the fall, carrying his cell phones with him in an application car.
Images from the building’s security cameras and the testimonials collected throughout the investigation were crucial for the reclassification of the case as femicide. The suspicious behavior of the boyfriend and his hasty departure from the scene contributed to the advancement of investigations.
According to local sources, Geicimara was on a temporary trip to Colombia. The confirmation that the fall was the result of a criminal act raises an alert about gender violence involving Brazilian abroad.
