Meuitan will enter the Brazilian market through its Keeta international arm and will compete with iFood
The deliveries company Meuitan announced on Sunday (11.mai.2025) its entry into the Brazilian market. The company said it will make an investment of R $ 5.6 billion over 5 years to start operations of its keteta international arm in Brazil in the coming months.
The company has an office in São Paulo and should start its activities in the Southeast region. In a panel at the Brazil-China Business Forum, organized by Apexbrasil (Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency), Meituan’s vice president, Xu Sijia, said the company plans to expand to the Northeast in the short term.
The company did not detail what this investment will be like. The company is already negotiating with Brazilian establishments to make its debut in the country and must bet on marketing and subsidies strategies to offer cheaper service in these first months in Brazil
The executive said the company will install a service center in the Northeast, where 1,000 people will be hired, 90% Brazilian.
Meituan is the largest food delivery company in China, with numbers that reach about 98 million meals delivered per day. In some cities in China, the company makes drones deliveries.
Already the Keeta was released by Meituan in 2022 in Hong Kong. In 2024, the subsidiary made its debut at the Saudi Arabia market.
The company will have a strong competitor in the Brazilian deliveries market. IFOOD dominates about 80% of the delivering market in Brazil.
The announcement of the investment is part of the package that should be announced on the visit of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) in China.
