European ministers called on Moscow to show that he wants peace

Foreign Ministers after Monday’s meeting in London welcomed the possibility of peace interviews between Russia and Ukraine this week in Istanbul, Turkey. At the same time, however, they stressed that Moscow “had” showed no serious intention to make progress “on the way to peace and urged it to do so without delay. The meeting of France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Britain, and the high EU representative for foreign affairs and security policy took place in Weimar+format, which was created in February in response to a change in USA to war in Ukraine and security in Europe.

Support of Ukraine

The joint statement published by the British Government shows that ministers have expressed full support for security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.

“Russia has not yet made any serious intention to make progress. It must do so without delay. We have joined the call of Ukraine to the immediate, complete and unconditional 30-day ceasefire in order to create space for negotiations on a fair, comprehensive and permanent peace,” the text said.

Safety guarantees

Ministers agreed that they will cooperate with Ukraine on initiatives aimed at strengthening its armed forces and industrial capacities, as well as supplementing ammunition and equipment supplies. They also expressed their determination to provide Ukraine with fixed security guarantees. According to the statement, this includes a review of the possibility of creating a coalition of air, ground and naval security forces that could contribute to the creation of confidence in the future rate if the restoration of the Ukrainian army.

Regarding further sanctions, they stated that they would promote “ambitious measures” in order to “reduce Russia’s ability to wage war by limiting the Kremlin’s income, by disrupting its shadow fleet, tightening the ceiling of oil prices, and reducing our remaining imports of Russian energy -free”.

New sanctions

“We will leave Russian state assets in our jurisdictions frozen until Russia ends its aggression and pays for damages caused,” they added.

According to AFP, the host of the meeting, the head of British diplomacy, did not report new sanctions against Russia as expected. The Agency pointed out that several of the measures mentioned in the statements have already been introduced.

These include some proposed by the European Union, which works on a 17th package of sanctions with other measures focused on vessels. Russian shadow fleet of tankers, which Moscow allegedly uses to circumvent sanctions imposed by Western countries for oil exports from Russia.
