Ministry registered constant growth in the collection during the first 3 months of 2025

The Ministry of Finance raised R $ 21.4 million with the inspection fee charged on online betting companies in the first 3 months of 2025.

The values ​​correspond to the 1st quarter of the BETS regulated market in Brazil, according to data obtained by the column through the LAI (Access to Information Law).

Monthly collection with the inspection fee increased progressively during the period, according to information raised by the Estadão. The amount collected in January was R $ 6.8 million, increased to R $ 7.2 million in February and reached R $ 7.4 million in March. The monthly average in the quarter was R $ 7.1 million.

The deadline for payment of the fee for April ended on Saturday (10.MAI.2025), but the Ministry of Finance has not yet disclosed information about this transfer. The collection focuses on the money used to cost and maintain each betting company and represents a counterpart for the commercial exploitation of the sector, being directed to the National Treasury account.

The Bets Law was sanctioned in December 2023, after approval by the National Congress. During 2024, the farm established detailed rules for the operation of the sector in the country.

To operate in the Brazilian market for 5 years, each company had to pay a grant of $ 30 million. Bets must also meet legal requirements, such as implementing measures to combat fraud, prevention of money laundering and restrictions on abusive advertising.

Betting companies have reported difficulties with Google and Apple in recent weeks. Bets complained to the Ministry of Finance that both technology companies are veting their applications on their platforms. The Play Store, Google’s Android System Shop, “It only allows for cash and horse racing lottery apps”.

A survey by Playtech, a technology company for online games, identified that “Bless distrust is a major concern for 55% of Brazilian gamblers”. The study also revealed that 74% of gamblers believe that some sports matches are manipulated. Data security during online games worries 51% of users, according to the survey.
