Medicinal Marijuana Market is on the rise, says Deputy – 12/05/2025 – Panel

Author of the first law of the country authorizing the medicinal canabis, state deputy Carlos Minc (PSB-RJ) defends incentives for planting the growth of the market.

“With immense agricultural potential and cultivation technology via associations, we no longer generate jobs and income for obscurantism that wages national production,” says Minc, former Environmental Minister in the second Lula administration.

According to him, Brazil last year had 672,000 medicinal marijuana patients, an increase of 56% compared to 2023. The sector moved R $ 852 million in 2024.

Today, 46.5% of Brazilian patients import their medicines, 31.6% buy in pharmacies and 21.9% access via associations.
