Organ donation in Austria: law, facts and myths

Organ donation is again in the focus of public debates – not because of medical innovations, but through targeted disinformation, which is increasingly spreading through relevant channels. In social media and on platforms such as the conspiratorial broadcaster on 1, claims are launched that are scientifically non -durable and legally misleading. For example, that the so -called brain death is not death or that you are exploited when you “remove the organ with a lively body”. Such narratives are causing fears, complicit factual discussions and undermined informed decisions.
