Senator charges national pact between politicians and businessmen and defends a project for the country “above personal disputes”
The Senator (PP-PI) made a tough diagnosis of Brazil during the 14th Lide Investment Forum, held this Thursday (13.MAI.2025), in New York. In a speech to entrepreneurs and authorities, he said the country has “failed” in the last four decades and that political polarization has prevented structural advances.
“Brazil grew 140%. India, 1,000%. China, 3,000%. We have failed in the last 40 years. It’s time to recognize this and change”Said the former Minister of the Civil House in the Government of (PL).
Ciro criticized what he called “extreme poles”Which, according to him, are feedback in disputes that wage the national advance.”We only ruled looking at the rearview mirror. The time has come to pacify our country. These extreme poles have done very badly to Brazil”, He said, without mentioning the names of the current president (PT), or Bolsonaro. The population is not represented and is helpless”He said.
According to him, there is a risk of an institutional rupture if politics does not offer concrete answers. “This change needs to happen before the population itself makes it by your hands. And this can happen in our country.”
The senator defended a pact between political and business leaders around a long -term national project. “We have to unite around a country project, not people. Brazil cannot continue to be hostage to electoral disputes and political rematch cycles”He said.
For him, it is necessary to think the future in 10, 20, 30 years horizons, with continuity of public policies that work.
Ciro praised the initiative of his colleague (PP-MS), who leads the formation of a party federation of União Brasil with the PP. He said the private sector should be the main engine of the economy. “There is no country that has grown with the government in place of the private sector. This only generates corruption and inefficiency.”
He also stated that Brazil is wasting opportunities in the green energy sector. According to him, the country could attract R $ 125 billion in investments in this area if greater legal certainty and regulatory reliability.
The senator ended up calling on those present – including governors, parliamentarians and investors – to set aside ideological clashes and work for institutional stability. “We need to stop fighting between us and start fighting against the country’s true problems.”
