The fracture in the relationship between and, with the departure of the Ministry of Social Security, tumultures the process of rapprochement between the two parties at the time they re -build bridges and resume alliances in the states.

The PDT had been in opposition for four years since it broke with Rui and decided to support () () () to the Bahia government in 2022. At the time, the movement was influenced by the national scenario, in which the PDT sought support for Ciro’s presidential candidacy.
In Salvador, the PDT has been an ally of União Brasil since 2020, when he indicated Ana Paula Matos for Bruno Reis’s deputy – also elected in 2020 and reelected in 2024. The party also joined Federal Deputy Leo Prates, one of ACM Neto’s closest allies.
The return of the PDT to the petista base in Bahia divided the party, had resistance between leaders in Salvador and now faces a scenario of instability in the face of the new removal between the two parties in the national sphere.
State deputies who planned PDT affiliation for 2026 are in the waiting measure, waiting to be clearer the scenario of national political movements.
PDT President in Bahia, Federal Deputy Felix Júnior minimizes the impact of fissure between the two parties. “I do not believe that the national decision will reverberate in Bahia. On the contrary, I think Bahia can help to bring parties closer to the national level,” he says.

At the meeting, he defended a union of oppositions in Ceará and signaled support for the candidacy for the Senate of Bolsonarist State Representative Alcides Fernandes (). He is the father of federal deputy André Fernandes (PL), defeated in 2024 in the dispute for the City Hall of Fortaleza.
Asked about the approach with the PT in Ceará, federal deputy André Figueiredo, president of the PDT state directory, said there is no formal alliance between the two parties.
In Fortaleza, at least six of the eight party councilors support Mayor Evandro Leitão (PT). In the Legislative Assembly, there is a division of the bench between oppositionists and remnants of Senator Cid Gomes, Ciro’s brother who migrated to the PSB.
Possible, the former mayor of Fortaleza Roberto Claudio leads the PDT wing that remains in opposition to Elmano. He was invited to join União Brasil, if he has closed doors for an application in the current party.
“We defend an alternative project to the PT, which has produced economic, social and political setbacks for the state,” he says.
Another state where there was a rapprochement is Piauí, where the PT elected in 2022 Governor Rafael Fonteles (PT), but the PDT was part of the plate of Silvio Mendes (União Brasil).
The two parties were allying again in the 2024 elections in Teresina, on the plate led by Fábio Novo (PT) – which was defeated by Silvio Mendes.
Without federal and state deputies, the state PDT works in the formation of plates to return to representation in the Assembly and the House. The party is expected to support Fonteles’s reelection.
