Government creates group to coordinate Brazilian artificial intelligence plan

The federal government announced last Monday (12) the creation of a working group dedicated to as published in the Official Gazette on Monday. This group will be responsible for the management and operation of the Brazilian Artificial Intelligence Plan, which provides for an investment of R $ 23 billion by 2028. The initiative involves 15 bodies and entities, including the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) and the Ministry of Finance, under the coordination of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The working group will last four years and will be attended by representatives of public and private bodies and entities, as well as researchers and members of civil society with notorious knowledge. However, these participants will not have decision power or vote at meetings. Among the main goals of the plan are the creation of a high performance supercomputer and the development of advanced algorithms for various sectors of the country.

The formation of this group reflects the growing importance of artificial intelligence in different areas of economics and society. The government thus seeks to foster the debate and the development of technologies that can boost national progress. The initiative highlights the need for strategic planning to integrate artificial intelligence effectively and safely in Brazil.
