Two names that were among the targets of the COVID CPI in 2021 returned to the center of a new scandal: Mauricio Camisotti and Danilo Trento are investigated by the Federal Police for alleged involvement in the scheme that diverted R $ 6.3 billion from the National Social Security Institute (INSS). The Federal Police consider Camisotti a key piece in fraud involving improper discounts of retirement and pensions. He is appointed as a hidden partner of Ambec, an entity that earned R $ 178 million between 2019 and 2024 with associative contributions discounted directly on the beneficiaries sheet. The association accumulates more than 2,000 complaints.
Camisotti was also cited as a hidden financier of precise medicines, a company that brokered the purchase of the covaxin Indian vaccine and which was the target of Covid’s CPI. At the time, the vaccine was pointed out as the most face negotiated by the federal government, with a cost of $ 80.70 per dose, four times more than Astrazeneca. The contract was suspended after evidence of irregularities.
In parallel to acting at the Ministry of Health, Camisotti also signed bonds with the INSS. In August 2021, still with the CPI in progress, Ambec signed a technical cooperation agreement with the institute, authorizing direct discounts on social security benefits.
Another name reappearing in the investigations is Danilo Trento, also indicted by COVID CPI for alleged participation in criminal organization. According to the PF’s investigation, Trento was seen circulating in restricted areas of Congonhas Airport with bags, accompanied by the then Attorney General of the INSS, Virgílio de Oliveira Filho, and PF agent Philipe Coutinho, accused of facilitating the movement of illicit money.
At Coutinho’s house, $ 200,000 in cash were seized, the equivalent of about $ 1.1 million.

In a statement to Covid’s CPI, Trent confirmed that he dealt with negotiations with the company Bharat Biotech to buy the Indian Covaxin vaccine, but did not respond to contacts with the Ministry of Health. The entrepreneur invoked the right to silence until he was asked about his relations with the Bolsonaro family or the address of his own company. The senators who integrated the CPI presented data according to which Trento worked to launder money from the company needs medicines, intermediary of the sale of the Indian Covaxin vaccine to the Ministry of Health.
