kyiv says that if Putin does not agree to meet Zelenski he will show that he does not want peace
The head of the Ukraine Presidential Office, Andrí Yermak, declared on Tuesday that an absence of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, at the meeting in Turkey proposed for this Thursday by the president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, would be “the final signal” that the Kremlin leader does not want peace.
“We have confirmed that President Zelenski is ready and will be in Turkey. Yesterday, President Trump made very strong and clear statements that he hopes that both leaders are present in Turkey,” said Yermak in a discourse by videoconference before the Copenhagen Democracy Summit held in the Danish capital.
The head of the Ukrainian presidential office added that “if Vladimir Putin refuses to go to Turkey this will be the final sign that Russia does not want to end the war”, nor “wants or is prepared for any negotiation.”
In response to Putin’s proposal to start direct contacts on Thursday in Turkey without having declared a high 30 -day fire, as asked by Ukraine and its partners, Zelenski quoted the same Thursday to the Russian President in Turkey for which he would be the first face to face between them since the beginning of the war.
The Kremlin said Tuesday that it will reveal the names of the members of the Russian delegation that will be Thursday in Türkiye when it considers it appropriate. (EFE)
