A map that shows risky areas, dominated by trafficking and Rio de Janeiro militia, has been created by the “Take the Vision RJ” channel and has been viralized on social networks since then. The extension of Google Maps was created to alert motoboys and application drivers on risk areas.

The tool has almost 7.5 million views and was initially free. At the end of March a modification was made for project creators to have greater control of the map use. Now a single value of 10 reais is charged to access the extension.

In an interview with CNN, the project’s creator stated that the project was created in 2023 and reformulated in May 2024. According to him, the starting point for the creation of the project was the death of a friend who was approached by traffickers of the Israel Complex (TCP) to live in Penha (CV).

According to the channel manager, the extension edition is automatic. It receives information from residents, motoboys and application drivers on the X -channel page, which has 110,000 followers. Telegram and Instagram also function as part of the capture and information sharing.

The creator of the page said he has already received a threat from Red Command (CV), Third Pure Command (TCP) and friend of friends (ADA), as well as being threatened by militiamen. The reason for the threats is the news and shared information about places where drugs and weapons seizure occurred.
