Pontiff stated that the use of artificial intelligence in communication requires responsibility and discernment, to ensure that it is “used for the good of all”
Vatican City (Folhapress) – Pope Leão 14 received this Monday (12) journalists and guests in a hearing in the Paulo 6th Room at the Vatican. About 3,000 people were present.
“Good morning and thanks for this wonderful reception. They say that when we are applauded at first, no matter much. If in the end you are still awake and want to applaud, thank you,” the Pope said, causing laughter.
Leo 14 began his speech this time in Italian, quoting the Sermon on the Mount of Jesus Christ. “We must say no to the war of words and images,” he said in Italian. He honored and called for the release of the “journalists arrested for seeking the truth”, in what was widely applauded.
The pontiff has stated that the use of artificial intelligence in communication requires responsibility and discernment to ensure that it is “used for the good of all.”
“I repeat to you today the invitation made by Pope Francis in his last message for the next World Journey of Social Communication:” Let’s disarm the communication of all prejudice and resentment, fanaticism and even hatred, “he said.
“Thank you, dear friends, for your service to the truth. You have followed the rites of Holy Week. They told the pain for the death of Pope Francis,” the Pope continued, applauded to each sentence.
He spoke about the difficult times experienced by humanity. “They represent a challenge for all of us, but not one of which we should escape. The church needs to face the challenges of its time. In the same way, communication and journalism do not exist outside history.”
“Today one of the most important challenges is to promote communication that takes us out of the Tower of Babel where we sometimes find ourselves,” said the Pope, warning “ideological and partisan communication.”
At the end of the hearing, the departure of Leão 14 from the Paulo 6th Room was a chaotic scene. Journalists and guests were hosted to play the Pope, talk to him, deliver gifts. Solitcy, the pontiff greeted a group of professionals responsible for the daily coverage of the Vatican.
