Former Federation President seeking to return to office has the 1st meeting with the 130 members of the plate since the registration of the candidacy
The only plate for the election of the (Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo), with 130 members, had on Monday (12.MAI.2025) the 1st meeting since it was on April 4.
Paulo Skaf, 69, is a candidate for president. He was in office at FIESP from 2004 to 2021. He has the support of almost all of the industrial unions with voting right in the election to return to the post.

The meeting of this Monday was at the Hotel Tivoli Mofarrej, in the Gardens (West Zone of São Paulo), 50 meters from FIESP headquarters. It started at 14h and ended at 4pm. Skaf opened the meeting. Then the members of the plate spoke. Another meeting is not foreseen until the election in August.

Skaf cited at the opening of the companies challenges of companies with technological evolution and the difficulties of the Brazilian economy. He mentioned increasing public spending, public account deficits, high interest rates and inflation. “Brazil needs all of us very united in search of solutions”these.
Possession in 2026
The term of office of the current president, Josué Gomes da Silva, runs until December 31. He had the support of Skaf in the election in 2021. He said in 2022, shortly after assuming the position, that he would not run for reelection. The inauguration of the elected in August will be in January 2026.
On the plate, the main vice-presidents, who can replace the president temporarily, are those who currently hold positions:
- Rafael Cervone (First Vice-President);
- Dan Iochpe (Second-Vice-President) and
- Marcelo Ometto (Third Vice President).
There are 21 other candidates for vice-presidents without specific order, called unnumbered vice-presidents.
There are 3 candidates for directors secretaries:
- Silvio Valdissera (1st Director Secretary);
- Ronaldo Koloszuk (2nd Secretary Director), who currently holds the position, and
- Manoel Miguez (3rd Secretary Director).
There are 3 candidates for financial directors:
- Jacyr Costa Filho (1st Director Finance);
- Sylvio Gomide (2nd Director Finance) and
- Pedro Fernandes (3rd Director Finance).
The 1st Director Secretary and the 1st Finance Director are responsible for managing Fiesp.
There are 92 candidates for directors without specific positions. For the Fiscal Council, there are 3 candidates for holders and 3 candidates for alternates.
The choice of positions in command of Fiesp is always the result of intense negotiations. The election is part of the ritual to hit what becomes consensual for members of the entity.
Dinner at Skaf’s house in 2024
The presidents and some union directors had dinner at Skaf’s house at Morumbi in Sao Paulo in October 2024. They delivered a manifesto signed by them asking Skaf to apply to return to the position of president. He accepted.
Skaf maintained, after leaving FIESP’s presidency in 2022, the custom of receiving representatives of union industries for year -end dinners. In 2022 and 2023, the meetings were in November. In 2024, dinner was anticipated for October because of negotiations for his return to the entity’s presidency. 140 people participated.
Discussions for Skaf’s return came after Joshua in January 2023 by union presidents. Then to keep Joshua in office.
Divergences in the 2022 election
Josué was supported by SKAF at FIESP president in July 2021. The relationship of the president of FIESP with industrial businessmen became edious during the months before the election campaign for President of the Republic in 2022.
Union representatives failed a letter in defense of democracy in July 2022. They interpreted the President of Fiesp’s gesture as favorable to the then candidate (PT) and contrary to the then president (PL), who sought reelection. Josué’s father, (1931-2011), was vice president from 2003 to 2010 (then by the PRB), when Lula was president.
The divergences of part of the union representatives with Joshua grew by evaluating that they had lost participation in FIESP decisions.
Skaf was a candidate for governor of São Paulo 3 times: in 2010 by the PSB being in 4th place; in 2014 by the PMDB being in 2nd place; And in 2018 by the MDB going in 3rd place.
