The head of the powerful Libya militia for stability support (SSA) Abdel Ghani al Kikli, known as ‘Gheniwa’, died Monday in clashes between armed groups in Tripoli, in a sudden military escalation that Libia staggered again.

“Tripoli, the capital of all Libyans and the headquarters of the State Government has become armed groups into a battlefield for the control of state institutions and the people of the people,” the deputies lamented in a joint declaration.
The deputies considered that the entry of more military reinforcements to Tripoli and the exchange of fire represent “a direct threat to social security and peace” and reflect “the failure of the political consensus process.”
After more than three hours of intense clashes, the Gun Defense Ministry, in Tripoli, announced having taken total control of the Abu Salim area, epicenter of the conflict.
The calm returned to midnight and the University Hospital of Tripoli indicated that five citizens were injured in a mild and moderate state, including one that is being surgically intervened.
The ambulance and emergencies department also reported the opening of a safe road in the Al Sidra area and that ten foreign workers were evacuated after a projectile fell into the area.
