The digital influencer Virginia Fonseca denied on Tuesday (13) to have received percentage in advertising contracts due to the loss of followers on betting sites. She participates this morning of testimony in the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) of the Senate Bets.
She was summoned by the board to talk about advertising campaigns related to gambling and online bets. According to her, her contract with a betting company provided that if the company could double the profit, it could receive 30% more in the defined amount. This, however, never occurred, according to Virginia.
“I never received $ 1 more than my advertising contract I made for 18 months. It was a fixed value, if I doubled the profit [da empresa contratante]I would receive 30% more from the company, but that did not happen, ”said the influencer.
According to Virginia, when news about what became known as the “disgrace fee” were disclosed, she cannot comment for the sake of “confidentiality” of her contract.
She also stated that the extra percentage, in case of increased profits of contractors, was a “standard clause” of her advertising contracts, was not something exclusive to Bets related.
Virginia refused to respond to the highest value she received in a contract with bookmakers. “I reserve the right to be silent,” he said.
Despite attending the commission, Virginia has the right to be silent during the hearing. Minister Gilmar Mendes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) accepted the request for habeas corpus of the defense of the influencer and decided in favor of her right not to self -incriminate.
Convocation
The influencer arrived in the Senate around 10:40 am, accompanied by her husband, singer Zé Felipe and her lawyers.
The influencer’s hearing was suggested by CPI rapporteur Senator Soraya Thronicke (Somos-MS) and approved by the board in December 2024.
“In recent years, the influencer has been involved in marketing campaigns for bookmakers, using their broad base of followers to publicize these activities,” the rapporteur said in the call request.
The influencer has 53.4 million followers on Instagram and has already done, on their social networks, disclosures of betting companies. The performance of influencers has no regulation in the country.
BETS CPI aims to investigate the influence of online betting games on the Brazilian families budget, as well as the possible association with criminal organizations involved in money laundering practices.
