Xi Jinping Lula handle to the status of Global South Leader and calls Brazil to fight US protectionism

China President Xi Jinping said on Tuesday (13.MAI.2025) that the international context “is far from peaceful” and that the Global South Countries are increasingly faced, amplified by unilateral tariffs applied by the United States.

In a speech alongside President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT), the Chinese leader stated that China and Brazil understand that it is the time to strengthen their relations to combat the White House protectionist measures.

In his speech, Xi Jinping divided the responsibility of promoting a “More fair and reasonable world order” with the petista.

“In this international situation full of change and turmoil our 2 countries have both common interests and a large space to make greater cooperation. We will keep faithful to our initial aspiration of taking responsibility for human progress and global development.”said the Chinese president.

Xi Jinping’s speech brings Brazil closer to the Chinese pole in the commercial war with the US. Prior to the statement to journalists, the leaders held a meeting that was opened for a few minutes to the press.

In it, Lula also said he does not agree with the American development model and that.

“China and Brazil agree that no one gets out of commercial wars and protectionism is never a correct solution to respond to challenges. Brazil and China will fight for free trade and cultivate an open, inclusive and non -discriminatory international environment.”declared Xi Jinping.
