Xeque Mate, a mining beverage manufacturer, officially announced the release of the zero alcohol version of its mixture, which became popular in Brazil. According to, the company joined a trend already seen in the beer segment, but still unusual on the part of drinks ready to drink. The new version of the Mate Check has only Mate, Lemon and Guarana – the rum has been eliminated from the mixture so that the drink is an option “for several everyday occasions”, as the company says in the announcement of the novelty.

The product should reach the gondolas in June and, with it, the drink manufacturer that until then had only the alcohol mate in the portfolio, wants to reach new audiences. “Whether to boost productivity at work, provide energy before training, follow lunch or figure as a non -alcoholic drink in bars and ballads, the new drink aims at multifunctionality,” says the company.

The novelty also arrives with clothing fit. Without rum, with less sodium and added vitamin C, the zero zero check has low caloric value “without giving up the characteristic flavor that consecrated the Mate Check”, says the statement of the Minas Gerais manufacturer.

The Mate Check drink was created by a pair of university students from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and gained impetus at street carnivals. The canned mixture completes 10 years in 2025 and the manufacturer sells, on average, 3 million cans per month. The goal is to close the year with 40 million units sold compared to 25 million of 2024.

The company has a factory in Belo Horizonte that was already operating at the limit of its capacity and has been expanded to internalize 100% of drink manufacturing (less than one third today is its own production). A new manufacturing unit is on the radar.

Consulting Nielsen estimates that the category ready to drink It should reach 8% of the alcoholic beverages this year and move around $ 85 billion by 2030 around the world.
