The death of Thiago da Silva Folly, known as Th da Maré, in an operation of the Special Police Operations Battalion (Bope) yesterday morning (13), represents a hard blow against organized crime in Rio de Janeiro. Considered one of the state’s most dangerous criminals, TH had been on the run since 2016, accumulated 227 criminal notes and had 17 open arrest warrants. The operation that located it was the result of months of a thorough investigation of the Intelligence sector of the Military Police.
Despite ending a trajectory marked by violence and court escape, authorities still face the challenge of capturing other high -dangerous names linked to drug trafficking. According to the website “Wanted”, at least 43 criminals appear in Rio, especially trafficking heads that still dominate several state communities.
HIGHER DERCULATE
Among the most dangerous is Almir Araújo, known as Mimi, Paraíba or Ball Face. With a record that includes drug trafficking, theft and kidnapping, Almir was sentenced to 50 years in prison, but fled the penitentiary system in March 2024. Considered one of the largest kidnappers in the 1980s, and a few years later distributed crack to Rio de Janeiro, being arrested in January 2013, by police officers from the Stock and theft Police Station (DRF).

Operating in the West Zone, Rodney Lima de Freitas, the RD or Gaguinho, is former Milician who joined the Red Command. He leads the group “The Cups”, accused of executions in areas disputed by militia and traffickers.
Another important name is William Yvens Silva, The Bunny of Serrinha, of the Third Pure Command (TCP). It is the right arm of Wallace Lacosta and organizes attacks against rivals in Madureira.

Even with less prominence, other criminals worry the authorities. André Luiz Bandeira Leal, Bracinho, is accused of multiple theft in Quintino and Pillars.
The execution of the criminal police officer on December 19, 2024, led to the inclusion of four CV suspects in the list of wanted: Carlos Antônio Gomes Júnior (Braddock), Caio Felipe Ferreira da Cruz (Reizin), Fabiano da Silva Souza (Fabiano), and Hiago Ferreira Pinto (Hiago). All are accused of direct participation in the crime, armed with rifles and pistols.
