BC will focus on cheaper communication and credit agenda, says director

Recurring theme in the recent speeches of spokespersons CENTRA BANKl, monetary policy acting channels will be one of the most important topics of the institution’s research agenda 2026-2029, according to Central Bank’s director of economic policy, Diogo Guillen. He participates on Wednesday (14) in the annual conference of the monetary authority in Brasilia.

“A new research agenda, which will accompany the Central Bank’s 2026 to 2029 cycle, is being prepared. This agenda will contain, among many other topics, a new emphasis on the understanding of monetary policy channels, as well as focusing on the widening of the population at lower cost and highlighting institutional communication,” he said.

According to the director, the agenda themes are defined to give institutional ammunition to the BC and also meet the other strategic objectives of the Central Bank, such as the recent challenges brought by technology innovations.

“The research developed follow specific regulation, which establishes procedures for proposition, approval, execution, evaluation and publication.”

In the initial speech of the event, Guillen again emphasized the achievement of formal autonomy, which reinforced the institution’s governance and technical independence. He also cited the advance on topics such as sustainability, technological innovation and green finances, which position the Central Bank, according to him, as an active agent in building a more resilient and inclusive future.

“These achievements are the result of the dedicated work of generations of public servants, the constant dialogue with society and the permanent search for technical and institutional excellence.”
