Governor says that State “increasingly assumes” global protagonism in the energy transition
The governor of Piaui, (PT), signed a memorandum of understanding for the investment of more than R $ 3 billion in projects of production and storage of solar and wind energy in the state by Chinese state CGN (China General Nuclear Power Group).
He said the investment of the Chinese state company will create 5,000 jobs during the project construction phase. “They will expand acting with important and innovative projects in the state”he said.
CGN has been entering Ribeira do Piauí and Lagoa do Barro since 2019. The state -owned company plans to increase operations with the installation of new plants that would increase 1.4 GW in installed capacity, a maximum amount of energy that an energy production system under ideal conditions.
The signed document contains a thermosolar energy generation pilot project, a modality that transforms solar radiation into electricity. There is also the plan to build an energy storage system in the state.
Fonteles said the state “Increasingly assumes the global protagonism in the energy transition” with the signature of the memo.
Apart from this, the federal government announced on Monday (12.MAI.2025) that companies in China will make other investments in Brazil that reach R $ 27 billion, in the areas of logistics, aviation fuel, drinks, mining, semiconductors and pharmaceutical inputs.

– Envisionglobal leader in green technology, will invest until R $ 5 billion To build the 1st Net-Zero Industrial Park of Latin America, focusing on SAF (acronym for sustainable aviation fuel), Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia;
– MixueChinese Beverage Network, will buy Brazilian products and start its operation in Brazil, investing R $ 3.2 billionwith estimation of creating 25,000 jobs by 2030;
– Baiyin Nonferrous GroupChinese miner group, announced the acquisition of the Serrote copper mine in Alagoas, with an investment of R $ 2.4 billion;
– DiDi, Owner of the 99 taxi app, announced investment in the delivery sector and the construction of 10,000 public recharge points to promote vehicle electrification in Brazil;
– Longsys, Chinese company of semiconductors, announced investment of R $ 650 million, mainly focused on the expansion of productive capacity in the states of São Paulo and Amazonas;
– North Chemistrythe largest producer of IFAs (active pharmaceutical inputs) in Latin America, has partnered with the Chinese Acebright, Aurisco and Goto Biopharm, in a total of R $ 350 million, to build an industrial platform of IFAS in Brazil.
