The Corinthians Deliberative Council will meet on May 26 to resume the vote on the club’s impeachment request, Augusto Melo.
The date was confirmed on Tuesday (13) by the president of the agency, Romeu Tuma Júnior, who issued a document with the rules to resume the rite that was interrupted during a meeting earlier this year.
On January 20, Tuma suspended the vote for the lack of time to complete the process, which dragged on in São Jorge Park.
At the time, the admissibility of the removal was approved tightly, by 126 to 114, but impeachment was not voted.
The last meeting lasted almost five and a half hours, with intense debates in São Jorge Park. At about 11:15 pm, Tuma, former ally of Melo and current opponent, interrupted the vote, under the justification that the advance of the night made some of the counselors, especially the elders, leave the place.
Until that moment, the club’s organized, especially the faithful hawks, were contrary to the impeachment process, at least until the conclusion of the Civil Police investigation about the suspicion of irregularities in the sponsorship agreement with the Vaidebet House, an object by which Augusto is being tried by the counselors.
Recently, however, the hawks changed posture and did not openly oppose the departure of the agent.
The authors of the removal process state that, due to the “omission of the leader [Augusto Melo]the image of the institution was thrown into a mud of degrading news. “
The complaint refers to the payment of R $ 25.2 million, as a intermediation committee for the agreement with the betting site, to the Social Media Design network, which belongs to Alex Fernando André, Alex Cassundé, who acted in the campaign of Augusto to Presidency.
This company passed part of the Commission to Neoway Integrated Soluções in Service, registered on behalf of Edna Oliveira dos Santos, a woman who lives in a humble residence in Peruíbe and did not even know about the company’s existence.
Augusto denies any irregularity in his performance and says that the whole process went through the club’s inspection bodies. It also complains that Tuma gave him no broad right of defense.
If Augusto suffers a new defeat in the board, he will be immediately removed. Tuma will then have five days to mark the Assembly of the Partners, which will take place, from marking, within 30 to 60 days. The vote of the associates, in the simple majority system, is definitive.
If the partners reject the impeachment, Augusto will return to office. If the dismissal is approved, the Deliberative Council will be called upon to elect – in the participation of the partners – a new president until what would be the end of Melo’s mandate in December 2026.
In all, Augusto Melo is the target of four impeachment processes at Corinthians.
